Yahya Abu Abboud, head of the Bar Association, said: The Bar Association will present a memorandum to the committee explaining all the observations and amendments that would improve the texts of the draft law, given that the associations are a reservoir of expertise.

He explained during a meeting with the Parliamentary Legal Committee that there are articles in the draft that need to be addressed, especially with regard to loose terminology that overlaps with other laws and legislations.

Abu Aboud pointed out that the penalties and fines included in the project went beyond the idea of ​​deterrence to the idea of ​​collection, as some fines were increased to five times.

He stressed that punitive laws should not deviate from freedom of expression and the press from its content stipulated in the constitution, otherwise it will be considered unconstitutional.
