Today, Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, met with the President and members of the Private Hospitals Association, where they discussed means of cooperation between the public and private sectors, identifying the most important obstacles and challenges facing the private hospital sector, and seeking to develop solutions and mechanisms to address them.

Al-Hawari stressed the need to increase the number of beds in hospitals, as their rate in Jordan reaches 1.4 per thousand citizens, which is below the global average of 3.9 per thousand citizens, adding that, with concerted efforts between the public and private sectors, we seek to increase the number of beds by at least 8,000 beds.

Al-Hawari also called for the need to unite all private sector hospitals under the umbrella of the Private Hospitals Association, because of the benefits it has on private sector hospitals and improving them.

The debts owed by the Kidney Fund in favor of private hospitals were also discussed, as Minister Al-Hawari promised that the payment would take place soon.

For his part, the president of the association, Dr. Nael al-Masalha, expressed the association’s readiness to cooperate with the public sector and make all efforts to improve the Jordanian health sector, calling on the Minister of Health for more cooperation and partnership between the two sectors, which would improve the quality of health services provided to patients.
