On Tuesday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee approved a draft law amending the law establishing Sharia courts 2023.

A member of the Legal Committee, Muhammad al-Hilalat, said during the committee meeting that a draft law amending the law for the formation of Sharia courts aims to enable Sharia courts, the Public Prosecution office, and offices for reform and family reconciliation to use electronic means and modern technologies in their work, and to develop litigation and documentation procedures.

Al-Hilalat added that the draft law is in line with the constitutional amendments to appoint the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, organize and develop the judicial inspection function, challenge the controls for transferring from one position to another within the scope of the Sharia courts, and define the conditions for assuming the Sharia judiciary function.
