Muhammad Obeidat, Head of Consumer Protection, demanded to find out the merits of the case and clarify them to the consumer, who is seen as the weaker party in the equation.
Dr. Obeidat pointed out that many countries completely prevent the use of vital residues, including dead chickens and their offal, as fodder because of the harmful substances they contain.
The National Society for Consumer Protection said that the owners of poultry farms have been complaining about the percentage of poultry deaths during the past months. At the same time, the issue of using vital residues was raised, including dead chickens that are used as food for fish, in addition to using them after processing them as poultry food.
Obeidat stressed that the relevant authorities are required to find out the facts, address the defect and correct the matter, because consumer health is not a place for experiments, calling for inspection of local feed factories and examination of imported feed to find out the truth.
Obeidat appreciated the role of the Food and Drug Administration for its efforts aimed at reaching safe and secure food for the consumer, calling on it to move forward to achieve safe food for the consumer.
Obeidat called on all other parties to play their role entrusted to them by virtue of the constitution and the law, and to monitor, examine and make sure that vital residues, whether dead chickens or chicken-cleaning waste, are not used in feed factories, because of their great harm to poultry farms on the one hand and the consumer on the other hand.
