On Sunday, the Aqaba First Instance Court decided to imprison those responsible for the death of 13 people in the chlorine gas tank explosion.

The court also decided to imprison 5 officials of the Aqaba Ports Operation and Management Company in the case of the chlorine gas tank explosion.

The Aqaba Ports Operation and Management Company was convicted of 5 crimes in the chlorine gas case and sentenced to the most severe penalty, which is a fine of 3,000 dinars.

She said that the procedures that were followed regarding the shipment of chlorine gas were not commensurate with the seriousness of the substance in terms of public safety measures.

The court declared the innocence of 5 other officials in the case.

Thirteen people died as a result of a toxic gas leakage from a tank in one of the ports of Aqaba, and dozens were injured in June 2022.
