Extinguishing fires in Ajloun with 214 tons of water transported by dredgers via planes

The Public Security Directorate announced that the firefighting teams of the Civil Defense Directorate, with the support of three aircraft from the Royal Air Force, the police, the gendarmerie forces, and the Ajloun and Jerash Agriculture Directorates, put out a fire that destroyed large areas of dry herbs and forest trees in the Safsafa area.
The media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate said that due to the spread of the fire to wide areas and ramifications in more than one place, the firefighting cadres made strenuous efforts in extinguishing it and continued for continuous hours, especially since the area where the fire broke out is characterized by difficult and rugged terrain, where the fire was controlled and prevented. spread, and did not result in any loss of life.
More than 100 fire fighting vehicles, ambulances, fire platforms, loaders, supply tanks, fire towers and agricultural tractors participated in the fire fighting operations, in addition to three Royal Air Force aircraft and more than 500 participants from the salaries of the Public Security Agency in all its formations.
The Jordanian Armed Forces announced the use of 214 tons of water to put out the fires that broke out in the Safsafa and Wadi Al-Shamiya forests between the governorates of Jerash and Ajloun during the past two days.
The Armed Forces said in a press statement that it had contributed, through the Royal Jordanian Air Force, to extinguishing the fires due to the difficult topography of the area, which had prevented civil defense mechanisms from reaching the site of the fire since Thursday evening. Mi-26″, as these planes were provided with the buckets required to transport water from Thursday evening, with an amount of 36 tons of water.
In view of the renewed fires and their spread very quickly due to the speed of the winds, the Jordanian Armed Forces worked, on Friday, to send a “MI-26” plane and two “Super Puma” planes, all equipped with shovels, to extinguish the fires, which were estimated to be more than 500 mountain dunums.
The total quantities of water that were transported to put out the fires on Friday evening amounted to 178 tons of water, through 44 dredges, carried out by the Royal Jordanian Air Force planes until these fires were brought under control.
