Al-Faraya visits Egypt to discuss the dismantling of drug smuggling networks

Minister of the Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, will visit the Arab Republic of Egypt, Thursday, and discuss with Egyptian officials combating and dismantling drug smuggling networks, according to ministry spokesman Tariq Al-Majali.
Majali said that the visit comes at the invitation of the Egyptian Minister of Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, noting that its program “includes a session of bilateral talks held by the two ministers to discuss aspects of cooperation and focus on security cooperation in its comprehensive concept in terms of exchanging experiences in the security, technical and training fields.”
Likewise, the two ministers are discussing the exchange of information, especially in the field of “combating and dismantling drug smuggling networks, which have become a problem plaguing the region” and require cooperation from the countries of the region, according to Majali.
Egypt is a member of the Ministerial Liaison Committee consisting of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, which is formed to follow up on the implementation of the Amman Declaration and to continue direct dialogue with the Syrian government.
According to Majali, the two-day visit aims to “exchange information in the field of combating organized crime in all its forms.”
Al-Faraya visits a number of security institutions in Egypt, according to Majali, who said that officers in the Public Security Directorate accompany Al-Faraya during his visit to meet with their Egyptian counterparts, in order to “arrange directly to translate security cooperation into executive programs and review existing programs according to the agreements signed with the Egyptian side.”
