Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, said that the Jordanian-Omani relations are historical, strategic and fraternal, which are always reflected in joint work to serve the interests of the two countries, Arab and Islamic issues, and achieve security, stability and peace in the region.

He added, during a press conference with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, on the sidelines of the eleventh session of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee, that 5 memorandums of understanding and agreements had been signed with the Sultanate of Oman.

Al-Safadi indicated, “The relations between the two countries are well-established and rooted, and are based on the firm conviction that it is in our interest to continue working together.”

He explained that the work of the eleventh session of the joint Jordanian-Omani ministerial committee is one of the outcomes of the summit meeting that brought together Their Majesties in the brotherly Sultanate of Oman last year at the time.

Al-Safadi added that the directives were clear to take practical steps in order to proceed with tangible practical cooperation during the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to the Sultanate of Oman, and 9 memorandums of understanding and executive programs were signed.

“The committee met Thursday, under the direct guidance of Their Majesties, and it is the first time that the committee met at the level of foreign ministers since it was decided in 2019. Today, 5 memorandums of understanding and executive programs were signed, and research is underway to sign about 22 agreements and memorandums of cooperation,” according to Safadi.

The work of the committee discusses opportunities to expand areas of cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, and draft decisions submitted by the preparatory technical committee, which met via visual communication technology before the joint committee’s work.

Al-Safadi and Al-Port Said held talks on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in all fields, in implementation of the directives of the leaderships of the two countries.

The talks also dealt with many regional and international issues and efforts to resolve crises in the region, prior to the convening of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee.
