High clearance on electric and hybrid vehicles

The number of vehicles cleared during the first half of this year amounted to about 31,500 vehicles, an increase of 32 percent, compared to the same period last year.
The head of the Jordanian Free Zones Investors Authority, Muhammad al-Bastanji, said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the vehicles that were cleared were distributed among about 6,310 petrol vehicles, 3,255 diesel vehicles, 8,039 hybrid vehicles, and 13,861 electric vehicles, while the number of re-exported vehicles amounted to about 20,238 vehicles.
He added that compared with the figures for the same period last year, the percentage of electric cars that were cleared increased by more than 96 percent, from 7,054 vehicles in the first half of last year to 13,861 vehicles in the first half of this year, as cars operating on gasoline and diesel witnessed decreased by 17 percent and 32 percent, respectively.
Al-Bustanji explained that Jordanians’ interest in electric cars has increased significantly, in line with the global trend towards the use of electric vehicle technology, which provides many advantages, including high energy efficiency and low total cost of operation and maintenance.
Regarding hybrid vehicles, he indicated that there is an 80 percent increase in clearance for them during the first half of this year, stressing that there is a remarkable growth in the hybrid vehicle market, which indicates a growing awareness of environmental issues, and the desire of consumers to search for alternative solutions that are more efficient in energy consumption. .
