The Consumer Protection Association called on citizens not to rush to buy goods in excess quantities so that their prices do not rise due to the increase in demand and lack of supply, especially since the goods are available in the markets.
The media spokesman for the association, Maher Hajjat, stressed to “Al-Bawsala” the necessity of exploiting the citizens’ needs in light of the circumstances that the citizens are going through.
The association deplored the fact that some merchants raised their prices, taking advantage of the citizens’ need to buy Eid supplies, noting that “our true religion urges us to help each other, not to take advantage of circumstances to raise prices.”
The association called on the regulatory authorities to intensify monitoring of the market, especially offers that may be fake, and to impose maximum penalties on violators.
In the days preceding Eid al-Adha, citizens complained about a significant increase in the prices of a number of commodities, especially meat, poultry, vegetables and fruits.
