The Muslim community awaits the advent of the Eid days, whether Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, with great eagerness, as it is an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of social relations and kinship ties, and the goodness and blessings that pervade the members of the community and spread intimacy, love and harmony throughout it.

The social expert, director of the Al-Afaf Charity Association, Moufid Sarhan, said in his statements to “compass“Eid is a religious occasion celebrated by Muslims twice a year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and it comes after worship. Eid al-Fitr comes after the blessed month of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha during the Hajj season.

And he points out that “Eid is the culmination of worship and a reward for the worshiping Muslim, and a season of joy and happiness.”

Director of the Al-Afaf Association Mufid Sarhan: Entertainment in Islam has principles and controls, and we must not transgress them

And he confirms that Eid is an opportunity for social communication between people, kinship ties and visitation, especially after changing circumstances, as direct communication between people is weak in light of the constant preoccupation with securing the requirements of life and some are satisfied with communication through modern means of communication.

Sarhan adds: In addition to the opportunity for social communication, Eid is also a joy for everyone to deviate from the daily routine of life and the work program that they are accustomed to during the other days of the year. And so during the days of the year, he has an opportunity to live a few days other than this routine, as a person needs change in everything because monotony breeds boredom, reduces productivity, and a person loses pleasure and motivation.

Developing a program for the family to benefit from the Eid holiday, even if it is short, can help its members renew their activity and vitality.

He explains, “Even the social visits that the family makes are a kind of change and breaking the routine, and just as young people need entertainment, adults also need it.”

Entertainment without extravagance or taboos

And he continues by saying: Entertainment in the eyes of Islam has its importance and its controls, as the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, says: “Live the hearts hour after hour.” And among the controls of entertainment is that it is not forbidden and that it is not accompanied by extravagance, waste, injustice to oneself, harm to others, or that it be a cause of negligence. in religious statutes and duties, or frequenting places of corruption and evil.

He adds, however, that the family going out for a picnic, for example, or spending time with relatives and friends, or in a family evening, is a kind of entertainment. In light of the difficult economic conditions, it is necessary to search for inexpensive means and within the capabilities of the family.

He stresses that a person needs to go beyond the worries and problems of life, even for a few days, because this has health and psychological benefits, rejuvenation of vitality, and a helping factor in increasing the productivity of the individual and an incentive for him to give more.

And he adds: In the midst of the burdens and preoccupations of life, a person needs beautiful memories that give him a boost and refreshment, and even in the most difficult circumstances, a measure of rest is enough to give a person greater endurance.

Sarhan concludes by saying: In all cases, we must not make these occasions a burden added to our burdens, and an occasion whose days we hope will pass quickly.
