Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor Youssef Al-Shamali said that electric cars have entered Jordan by the thousands over the past few months.

Al-Shamali added, today, Sunday, that the ministry has held several sessions with car agents and dealers for several months, in order to serve the Jordanian consumer who is about to buy cars of various categories.

The decision states the following:

Obligation to provide a written warranty on electric cars, 3 years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first.

Obligation to submit a written warranty on petrol or hybrid cars, 2 years or 40,000 km, whichever comes first.

The decision stipulated that the mileage of the vehicle to be purchased from dealers should be less than 1,000 kilometers.

He indicated that, in coordination with the Licensing Department, any vehicle entering the Jordanian market, regardless of its type or category, will be examined.

The Council of Ministers decision will be implemented as of next October 1, and the decision will be evaluated 6 months after its implementation.

He stressed that the aim of this decision is to protect the Jordanian consumer, who is about to buy cars.
