The number of active Jordanian insured persons who are voluntarily subscribing to the insurance increased to currently reach (93) thousand active subscribers, constituting (6.2%) of the total number of active insured persons (Jordanians and non-Jordanians) until today, whose number reached (1.51) million insured persons. They also constitute (7%) of the active Jordanian insured persons.

Insurance and social protection expert Musa Al-Subaihi said that the insurance law permitted voluntary subscription for Jordanians who do not apply to the provisions of mandatory coverage by insurance, i.e. those who do not work in licensed and registered establishments inside the Kingdom, explaining that voluntary subscription is available on this basis for Jordanian expatriates and Jordanian housewives who are dedicated to the affairs of their families. And for the Jordanian student who is studying and not working if he is over sixteen years old, and it is also available for the employer and the Jordanian self-employed who is subject to another mandatory retirement system such as the retirement of the trade unions.

According to Al-Subaihi, any Jordanian who applies for voluntary affiliation is also required not to have completed the age of sixty for males and fifty-five years for females if the enrollment is for the first time.

And he added, through his Facebook account, “The contributor voluntarily pays (17.5%) of the hypothetical monthly wage, which is determined within rules that depend on age, average wages, previous subscription period, and the previous wage, if any, in return for being covered by old age, disability, and death insurance.”

Al-Subaihi pointed out that the voluntary contributor has the opportunity to obtain an old-age or early retirement pension, a total or partial permanent natural disability pension if it applies to him, and his family is also allocated a natural death pension in the event of death.

The voluntary contribution enabled about (44) thousand Jordanians to obtain a retirement pension or a natural disability pension from the insurance.
The optional subscription is useful and enhances the social protection of Jordanians, and I recommend it to every Jordanian who does not apply to the provisions of mandatory coverage in the guarantee.
