Amman – Raed Sbeih

Whenever the days of the blessed Eid al-Adha, which Muslims celebrate every year, by offering sacrifices and offerings to God in celebration of the end of the Hajj season and the imminent return of the pilgrims to their families and homes, come out some voices that raise doubts about the legality of the sacrifice, under the slogans of “mercy, humanity, kindness to animals and kindness to them, and demanding By stopping the completion of this Islamic ritual and standing against it.” And at other times under the pretext of saying that the need of the poor and giving them money in alms is more important and necessary than offering sacrifices.

compassI contacted the professor of Islamic studies, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jarmi, and asked him about this issue, and this was his answer.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jarmi says: We thank God that He has guided us to the great Islam and honored us by following the faithful Prophet, and yet: He who created man is the one who provided him, and he is the one who entrusted him with the laws, and he is the one who regulated his life in all the details.

And he adds by saying: He who provided for man is the one who commissioned man to come to him with rituals, according to the Sunnah of our father Ibrahim Al-Khalil, as He, Glory be to Him, said: (And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice), and then there is no objection to those who claim and claim that they are more merciful to animals than God, the Great Creator, are they sufficient? Really about food, and do they really not slaughter birds, and do they not slaughter their sacrifices on their feasts and do not rejoice, and why do they stand against Islamic sacrifices, and stand against Islamic sacrifices?

Dr.. Ibrahim Al-Jarmi: O Muslims, rejoice in your religion and be proud of it, and be distinguished by your sacrifices and rituals

And he stressed that this is a false claim and a false illusion, as all nations eat meat, and we are distinguished by the fact that we eat from our sacrifices, thanks to God and His law, and in a manner regulated by Islamic law.

And Al-Jarmi continues by saying: Another thing is that no one says why do you not offer the price of the sacrifice to the poor as it is better, so we say that this statement is not correct because the one who guarantees the provision is God who diversified the provision, so there is water, food, fruits and meat, and who says that the sacrifice is devoid of charity? As for God Almighty said: Eat from it and feed the miserable and the poor. Didn’t the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, say: Do not eat and give alms, and store up.

And he stresses that “by the grace of God, we combine sacrifices between rituals and worship, and between feeding and charity.”

And Al-Jarmi sends a message to Muslims: Rejoice in your religion, O Muslims, and be proud of your religion, and be distinguished in your food, drink, sacrifices, and rituals, and be confident that God is the Creator of man. .

provisions of the sacrifice

It is noteworthy that the Jordanian Iftaa Department confirmed that the sacrifice is a Sunnah for the one who is able, and as for the one who is unable, it is not required of him.

The department confirmed that the sacrifice is one of the great rituals of God, which Muslims are keen to perform due to its great bounty with God Almighty.

The sacrifice is what is slaughtered on Eid al-Adha, of camels, cows, or sheep, as an act of closeness to God Almighty, and the time for sacrifice begins after the time for the Eid al-Adha prayer begins, and the time for two rak’ahs and two sermons has passed, and its time continues until sunset on the fourth day of the feast.

The sacrifice is enacted for the sane adult Muslim who can afford it, and the intention is required when slaughtering it, indicating that whoever wants to sacrifice is desirable for him to refrain from taking anything from his hair or nails, in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and he does not have to do that, so the sacrifice is valid from those who cut his hair or nails, but missed the year’s wages.

Regarding the legally considered age of the sacrifice, the department indicated that it is in camels that it has completed five years, and in cows it has completed two years, and in sheep one year, and it is permitted in sheep that have completed six months or more, provided that it has been more fruitful, pointing out that the best sacrifices are from Where the size is the fattest.
