The Director General of the National Center for Agricultural Research, Dr. Nizar Haddad, confirmed that the center seeks to enhance knowledge and empower researchers about modern technologies in camel breeding, development and improvement, to adapt to climate changes.
During his meeting with experts from the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), he indicated that research on camel breeding is a necessity in light of climate changes, and that the research center is looking forward to strengthening its effective partnership with “ACSAD” in many agricultural fields, especially those related to dry and semi-arid lands. .
He called, according to a press release today, Saturday, to unify regional efforts in order to develop agricultural scientific research, exchange experiences and information, and benefit from the fruits of progress in the localization of modern agricultural technologies to improve agricultural production, conversion efficiency and breeding for the livestock sector.
For their part, the experts appreciated the center’s role in developing agricultural scientific research, transferring modern technology, and exchanging experiences. They affirmed ACSAD’s confidence in the center’s capabilities to adopt modern techniques and technology, and transfer them to farmers and train them.
The ACSAD delegation included the Director of the Animal Health Program, Dr. Abdel Moneim Al-Yassin, the Director of the Camel Program, Dr. Adnan Al-Asaad, and the Director of the Pioneering Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer Program, Dr. Zuhair Al-Ahmad.
In turn, the Director of the Animal Resources Research Directorate at the Research Center, Dr. Sami Al-Awabdeh, pointed to the importance of the expertise and information that the researchers benefited from, stressing that it will enhance the research efforts in breeding camels in the Kingdom and transfer this knowledge to farmers through training courses that will be implemented by the Research Center.
The head of the Animal Health Department, Dr. Muhammad Al-Araishi, said that this course enabled researchers about diseases and challenges facing the camel sector, which will reflect positively on farmers by transferring knowledge to them and strengthening the camel sector.
