The Director General of Customs, Brigade of Customs, Eng. Jalal Al-Qudah, inspected the Al-Omari Borders Customs Center and was briefed on the workflow and services provided to travelers.
During his tour of the center, the judges instructed the need to take all possible forms of facilitation for border crossing users, whether Jordanians returning to spend the blessed Eid al-Adha holiday among their families, or nationals of neighboring countries.
The judges listened to a detailed explanation given by the Director of the Center, Dean of Customs, Salem Al-Shaloul, on dealing with the increasing numbers of arrivals from the Gulf countries.
Al-Shaloul said that the center dealt within two days only with 44,000 passengers arriving on board 11,000 vehicles, while their number during the last week reached 69,000 passengers on board 19,000 vehicles.
He referred to the implementation of the emergency plan, coinciding with the end of school hours in the Gulf countries and the approach of Eid al-Adha. All arrivals were dealt with and customs and humanitarian services were provided to them in cooperation and coordination with the security authorities and agencies operating in the center.
Al-Shaloul said that the number of cadres that provide the service has been doubled by increasing the working hours for one shift, and merging the work of the shifts so that they work in full capacity to serve the citizens and nationals of neighboring countries, and the completion of the service of this large number in a record period of time.
