The Zarqa Camp Services Committee, in cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the orphan team of the Al-Awda Youth Club, implemented a general cleaning campaign for the Islamic cemetery in Zarqa camp, on the occasion of World Environment Day and the approaching Eid al-Adha.
The head of the Camp Services Committee, lawyer Muhammad Hisham Al-Bourini, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the campaign was attended by about 50 young men and women and a number of dignitaries of the camp. Eid al-Adha is approaching, and people are accustomed to visiting cemeteries.
He pointed out that World Environment Day is an invitation to all official and civil institutions to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment from pollution, and not to throw waste except in containers distributed in squares and streets, pointing out that Islamic cemeteries are special in terms of caring for them and preserving the sanctity of graves.
