On Wednesday, Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh launched a series of dialogues with Jordanian youth under the title: (Visions of Modernization: Youth are the Focus of Concern), in the first dialogue meeting to be held at the University of Jordan.
Al-Khasawneh indicated that the parliamentary elections were held within their constitutional framework between July 10 and November 10, 2024, adding, “We are nearly a year away from the parliamentary elections, and there are 27 parties that have corrected their situation with regard to the entry of youth and women into them at a rate of 20% each, which gives young people an opportunity to participate effectively.” in the next elections.”
He explained that the Civil Service Bureau will end this year and the Civil Service Authority will be established while preserving the stock, indicating that “the administrative modernization plan will not affect the rights of any of the employees in the public sector.”
Al-Khasawneh revealed that “the percentage of free competition within the Civil Service Authority will be raised according to certain percentages during the next three years in the public office.”
And he indicated that the capabilities and potentials that exist among our youth and the recent constitutional and legislative amendments qualify them to be in decision-making positions, whether in terms of reducing the age of candidacy for elections or by determining percentages for their presence in parties and leadership positions in them.
Al-Khasawneh called on young people to participate in politics, noting that it is “a door to participation in economic decision-making,” explaining that the parties and election laws give young people an opportunity to participate effectively in the upcoming elections and participate in decision-making through their involvement in parties.
He drew attention to the fact that “some excessive promises and the inability to fulfill them led to a gap between state institutions and youth.”
He said that the entire Jordanian state, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, stands behind breaking the prohibitions that prevailed in partisan work and threatened affiliation with political parties.
Al-Khasawneh emphasized that the reference documents for the three modernization paths that were launched at the beginning of the Jordanian state’s bicentenary provide an enabling environment for youth and help activate their role.
He pointed out that the limited resources and challenges faced by Jordan frustrated the youth, but our youth do not despair, explaining that Jordan was previously exposed to existential threats decades ago and came out of them more solidly based on its belief in the capabilities of its citizens, and today we have youth capabilities and energies capable of overcoming all difficulties.
We have a lot of latent energies that have not been used properly. Because of the lack of success in making sound decisions and jurisprudence sometimes, and we seek to employ these energies in a better way and in a way that serves the national interest,” according to Al-Khasawneh.
He added, “We have many success stories of Jordanian youth in the fields of innovation, indicating that we have great energies and that youth are the instrument of change.”
Al-Khasawneh pointed out that youth have a responsibility to participate in political life as the engine of change, and we look forward to overcoming the low participation rates that we witnessed in the past.
He continued, “We will not tolerate any practice that restricts partisan work, and there are legislative texts that prevent harassment of anyone who engages in any partisan activity.”
