Al-Bawsala – The head of the Livestock Breeders Association, Zaal Al-Qualit, said: There are numbers of sacrifices that exceed the needs of the Jordanian market, with the advent of Eid Al-Adha.
On expectations of an increase in sheep prices after the resumption of exports to Saudi Arabia, he explained that the export will return prices to normal.
He pointed out that the price of a kilo of lamb last year was 5 dinars, and now it is lower than that, pointing out that with the return of exports, prices will be in their normal state and not more than that.
He stressed that the municipal sheep will witness a price increase with the advent of Eid Al-Adha, in smaller proportions than the imported ones.
And he indicated that supply and demand is what achieves the equation in prices, indicating that the purchasing movement so far is weak and less than in previous years.
He added, during a television interview on Wednesday, that the market consumes between 200,000 and 250,000 heads of sheep, usually during the Eid al-Adha season.
He pointed out that the number of imported sheep in Jordan ranges from 200,000 to 300,000 heads.
