Jordan advanced two ranks in the Global Competitiveness Index for the year 2023, ranking 54th in the world, among 64 countries monitored by the index.
The report, which was reviewed by the “Kingdom” and issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), based in Switzerland, showed that Jordan ranked 6th in the Arab world, after the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.
In its report, the Institute said that the most prominent challenges that Jordan faces for the year 2023 are the persistent risks in the global economic environment resulting from geopolitical crises and their repercussions on supply chains and energy and food prices, in addition to the weak growth rates of the national economy over the past decade, and the persistence of structural imbalances in public finances. .
The burden of Syrian refugees also continues, especially given the decrease in the volume of international grants to meet their development needs, in addition to the high rates of unemployment and poverty and the low economic participation of women, which are the most prominent economic challenges.
Jordan progressed in three main axes, as it progressed within the government efficiency index by 3 degrees, and Jordan advanced 9 degrees in the business efficiency index, and Jordan advanced two degrees within the infrastructure pillar.
On the other hand, Jordan declined one degree in the economic performance axis for the year 2023.
