Chinese media recently reported a strange case of an employee named “Wang” who sued his employer for wrongful dismissal after he was fired for spending a lot of time in the toilet during working hours. After undergoing a delicate surgery, the man continued to feel pain and discomfort, so he began to spend 3 to 6 hours on the toilet every day.

Wang’s former employer claims that over a 10-day period, he took a total of 22 bathroom breaks, which lasted between 47 minutes and 6 hours. – who did not give her name – from Tianjin, employing Wang, according to the website odditycentral.

Wang underwent the surgery in December 2014, and his employer claims he began taking unusually long bathroom breaks after returning to work in July 2015, something he spent several hours on the office toilet.

3 daily breaks

After Wang did the monitoring between September 7 and September 17, 2015, during which time he was taking at least 3 long bathroom breaks a day, the company decided to terminate him.

In October 2015, Mr. Wang sought arbitration to regain his position with the company, and the two parties engaged in a drawn-out legal battle that ended this year, when the Tianjin High Court ruled that the man’s bathroom breaks were not reasonable and normal physiological needs, so Wang did not get his job back.

This story got a mix of responses online, with some people defending the employee for having a serious medical condition, and others claiming that his breaks were justified because of his surgery.
