And (15) minutes, which is the longest day during the year, while the length of the night is (9) hours and (45) minutes, which is the shortest night during the year. With the onset of the summer solstice, the sun is completely perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer, which is located approximately 23.5 degrees north of the equator. .

Al-Khattab told Ammon on Sunday that during this period, the Kingdom usually witnesses hot weather and waves sometimes as a result of the region, including the Kingdom, being affected by the extension of the Indian seasonal depression, whose effect may sometimes reach central Europe, where temperatures rise to exceed during heat waves the barrier of 45 degrees Celsius sometimes in Some regions of the Kingdom, especially the Badia, Jordan Valley and Aqaba regions. He added that the general average of the maximum temperature calculated from the period (1991-2020) during the summer season is 32.5 °C in the capital, Amman, while the average minimum temperature is 20.3 °C, and the highest maximum temperature recorded in the city of Amman was 43.5 °C. °, with an increase of 11.0 °C from the general average, on 07/30/2000 and 08/20/2010, while the lowest recorded temperature was 10.2 °C, which is 7.2 °C below the general average, on 06/31/1958.

At the level of the Kingdom, Al-Khattab indicated that the highest maximum temperature recorded during the summer season amounted to 50.1 °C in Deir Alla station on 09/04/2020, while the minimum temperature was 0.4 °C in the Shoubak station on 09/17/2004. This period may witness summer rains, as happened recently in the year 2012 on 06/22/2012, when the city of Irbid recorded 9.2 mm.

The climatic records of the Meteorological Department indicate that the number of heat waves that the capital, Amman, witnessed during the summer season amounted to 72, the last of which was last summer 2022, when the city of Amman witnessed a heat wave that lasted for 8 days, during the period (August 27 to September 3, 2022). The capital, Amman, had a maximum temperature of 41.4°C on 08/29/2022, an increase of 8.5°C from the general average for the same day.

And as the seasonal forecasts of most international numerical models indicate that the average temperature during the summer months of 2023 will be higher than the general rates by about (0.5-1.5) degrees Celsius in most regions of the Kingdom, with a probability of up to 80%.
