The Ministry of Water and Irrigation estimated the cost of securing one meter of water for the state treasury at 2.40 piasters, as the repeated attacks on water sources and networks caused the loss of millions of meters annually and increased the economic cost and financial burdens on the state.
Jordan needs water annually, according to the Assistant Secretary-General of the Water Authority, Omar Salameh, media spokesman for the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, about 1.5 billion cubic meters for various uses, compared to the water supply, which currently amounts to 1.2 billion cubic meters, according to what was reported by “Mamlaka TV.”
The water supply reflects a water deficit estimated at 400 million cubic meters.
