Hashim Akl, an expert in the fuel sector, said that the transition to electric cars is still proceeding with caution, and despite the speed of this transition towards electric vehicles, there are several obstacles.

He added, “There is talk about new batteries being developed by some companies, including Toyota, and their production will start in 2027, which is a solid-state battery, based on ceramic material, and if this battery is produced, the prices of electric cars will drop.

He pointed out that the increase in the population around the world, and the increase in the number of conventional cars, means growth in the demand for oil, indicating that the producing countries realize this point in order to achieve the largest amount of profit.

The statistics of the Free and Development Zones Investors Authority revealed the total number of cars sold through the free zone from the beginning of this year until the end of last April.

According to these statistics, 4,145 petrol cars, 2,087 diesel cars, 4,858 hybrid cars, and 7,737 electric cars were sold.
