68.4 percent increase in tourism income during the first five months

The latest data issued by the Central Bank indicates that tourism income during the month of May of 2023 grew by 27.8 percent, compared to the same month of 2022, to reach $611 million.
During the first five months of 2023, the data showed that tourism income increased by 68.4 percent to reach $2,826 billion, driven by the increase in the number of tourists to 2,483 thousand tourists, with a growth rate of 69.0 percent.
This came as a result of the increase in the number of overnight tourists to 2,044 thousand, with a growth rate of 62.4 percent, while the number of one-day tourists reached 439 thousand, with a growth rate of 108 percent.
At the same time, the data indicates an increase in tourism spending abroad during May of 2023 by 6.1 percent, compared to the same month of 2022, to reach $132 million.
As for the first five months of 2023, tourism spending abroad increased by 48.1 percent, to reach $696.3 million.
