Women used to buy handbags made of leather or fabric, to carry their personal items that they needed when they went to work, or even when shopping, or even when they went out with their friends, but what women are not used to much is carrying a wooden bag, which makes women fear that The bag is heavy on her hand, but Walaa Hassan, a handicraft designer, realized this and designed a lightweight wooden bag that bears the Egyptian character.

Walaa Hassan, a handicraft designer who has children at the university level, spoke to “The Seventh Day” about the beginning of her passion for “handmade”, and her design of art pieces and accessories, where she said: “All my life I love handmade work, whether it is recycling I cut home decorations, and I used to design special gifts for my friends, but five years ago I designed a gift for one of my friends, and someone saw it he liked it, and he asked me to make one like it, but I was hesitant, and after that my friends convinced me that I design the gift and turn my hobby into a craft.

Regarding her tendency to design wooden handmade bags, she said: “Handmade work was a hobby for me at first, and I was keen to develop myself in it by watching video clips. After that, I turned with me into a craft, and I began designing embroidered bags of oriental colors, and I began to teach women through workshops.” How do they make a small project in their home, and during the ban period with the spread of the Corona virus, I began to learn the art of decoupage, and from here I thought of being different and making distinctive, purely Egyptian designs. That is why I thought of designing wooden bags, lined with leather, and it is a very light bag, weighing 200 grams. .

Walaa talked about her keenness to design products with an oriental Egyptian character, she said: “I love my work to be with Pharaonic drawings or in the character of the Mamluk era, and I love looking at everything new and developing myself, and I also studied art therapy and how to use colors to influence the person, and I also studied Energy sciences, the nature of stones and their impact on humans, and all of this influenced my designs, and I discovered that the Pharaonic work is popular with Egyptians because we are proud of our identity, and it is also popular with tourists.

Walaa expressed her wish that she seeks to achieve in the future, and said: “I hope to have a private gallery in which I display all my handmade work, and develop more of my art with the passage of time.”
