The head of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission, Khaled Touqan, affirmed the depth of the historical brotherly relations that bind Jordan and Iraq, especially in the scientific and technological fields.
He pointed to Jordan’s desire to expand the scope of cooperation with Arab countries, including Iraq, and its willingness to provide technical and training support and exchange experiences in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.
According to a statement issued today by the Commission, Touqan said during his meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Naeem Al-Aboudi, at the head of an Iraqi delegation, that Jordan has always believed in the Arab depth, joint work, and strengthening the strong bilateral relations that bind us with Iraq to achieve the ambitious goals of a scientific future. bright.
Toukan touched on the achievements of the Jordanian nuclear energy program with all its components, which include the Jordanian nuclear power plant, the Jordanian nuclear reactor project for research and training, in addition to the uranium exploration and mining project and the development of human resources, and what the International Center for Synchrotron Light for Experimental Sciences and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) achieved in achieving excellence. science and technology in the Middle East and neighboring regions.
For his part, Al-Aboudi explained that the progress that has been achieved in the nuclear field in Jordan is a pioneering experience that contributes to achieving Arab integration, and that Iraq is continuing to strengthen cooperation and partnership in the scientific and industrial fields with its brothers in Jordan.
On a related note, Toukan accompanied the Iraqi minister and the accompanying delegation on a visit to the Jordan University of Science and Technology, where the university’s president, Khaled Al-Salem, gave an explanation of the university’s aspirations and future projects.
