Energy expert Amer Al-Shobaki, in the context of his comment on the new agreement that gives the Egyptian side the right to use the floating gas ship in Aqaba, demanded that those responsible for the fatal mistake of extending the contract for this ship, which costs the state more than 55 million dinars annually, be held accountable.
Al-Shobaki said that the agreement confirms what I referred to in successive reports about the fatal error in extending the contract for chartering the floating ship in Aqaba, and the need to hold accountable the parties that decided to extend the contract, which costs the Jordanian government 55 million dinars annually, instead of providing these amounts from the budget deficit. or use it for development.
He pointed out that after the government belatedly realized this fact, and allowed the Egyptian side to use the gas vessel and its components, which is a step in the right direction, the government had to clarify this agreement and reveal the terms of the contract.
Al-Shobaki stressed that the most important of all, does this agreement cover the cost of contracting with the Solar company, amounting to 55 million dinars annually, or is the government still losing as a result of this contract and incurring more budget deficits?
