The General Iftaa Department clarified the ruling on deputizing or deputizing to perform the rituals of Hajj on behalf of a sick person.

And she explains that the fatwa came in response to the following question, “I suffer from a severe illness and I feel difficulty in traveling; Because I suffer from severe dizziness, and I do not go out to any far place because of the illness I suffer from. Is it permissible for someone to perform Hajj on my behalf?”

The answer recommended consulting the specialist “trust” doctor first, and said, “If he confirms that the vertigo that afflicts the questioner continues with him and may expose him to unbearable hardship or the danger of falling anywhere and at any moment, then this disease is a reason for the permissibility of the questioner appointing someone else to perform Hajj on his behalf, that is, if The person was obligated to perform the Hajj if he was financially able.

The cost of Hajj for Jordanians for the 2023 season is estimated at about 3 thousand dinars, and the distinguished Hajj ranges between 5 and 9 thousand dinars.

It is expected that the first convoys of Jordanian pilgrims to the Holy Land will depart by land next Wednesday, June 14th.

The number of Jordanian pilgrims for the current year will be 8,000 pilgrims, and 4,500 pilgrims from the Palestinians of 1948.

Here is the text of the answer:

“Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam, and it is obligatory for every Muslim who is obligated and able, and ability is of two types: physical ability, and financial ability, according to the Almighty’s saying: {And to God, the pilgrimage to the House is obligatory for people who is able to find a way to it} [آل عمران: 97]Financial ability is achieved when the Muslim possesses money that is better than his expenses and the expenses of those on whom he spends, and it is also better than his debt, whether the debt is immediate or deferred.
came in [مغني المحتاج 2/ 213]It is stipulated that what was mentioned of the provisions and the ride with the loader and the partner should be free from his debt immediately or deferred, whether it was for a human being or for God Almighty as a vow and expiation. End.
And physical ability is achieved in the right of those who are able to go to perform the Hajj by themselves, and who is unable to perform the Hajj by himself; He must delegate someone to perform Hajj on his behalf.
Imam al-Nawawi, may God have mercy on him, said: “It is permissible for someone else to perform Hajj on behalf of someone else, if he is unable to perform Hajj, due to death, fracture, chronic illness, or an illness that is not expected to go away, or if he is old and cannot fix the ride in the first place, or it can only be fixed with extreme hardship.” ” [روضة الطالبين وعمدة المفتين 3/ 12].
And whoever is unable to go for Hajj due to illness or old age, he should be keen to consult a trustworthy doctor: If he advises him about the time of his illness, and that he finds it hardship that the right person is not used to, it is permissible for him to deputize for Hajj.
came in [حاشية الجمل على المنهج 2/ 388] One of the books of the Shafi’i school of thought is: “The one who is unable to perform the rituals by himself: that is, now and then… This is apparent in old age, and in sickness that there is no hope of recovery… Is it sufficient in case of incapacity that he knows himself about that, or does that depend on informing a just doctor who has looked into it, and measured his analogues from tayammum and the like the second.
Accordingly; We advise the questioner to consult a specialist doctor who is confident in his sick condition, and if he confirms that the dizziness that affects the questioner continues with him and may expose him to unbearable hardship or the risk of falling anywhere and at any moment, then this disease is a reason for the questioner to delegate someone else to perform Hajj on his behalf, this is if the person It is obligatory for him to perform Hajj if he is financially able. As for someone who is not able to perform Hajj physically or financially, he is not obliged to delegate someone to perform Hajj on his behalf. Because Hajj is not obligatory in the first place. God only knows.”

The wisdom of Hajj
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam; The Almighty said: (And to God it is obligatory for the people to perform the pilgrimage to the House, whoever is able to find a way to it), and the Hajj legislation carries many rulings, including the following:

Achieving servitude to God Almighty; The servant gives his money and his body. In order to please God Almighty, and in response to the command of God Almighty to perform the rituals of Hajj.
Pilgrims witness the benefits of the season; The Almighty said: (so that they may witness benefits for themselves).
Witnessing the unity of the ranks of Muslims despite their differences in color, gender, and language, which makes pilgrims and Muslims feel the impact of faith and the integrity of the curriculum.
Achieving the benefit in avoiding the Muslim of polytheism and perjury in all its forms; He calls on him to unite God Almighty in all his deeds, and to mention God Almighty also in all his rites, such as stoning the pillars, slaughtering the sacrifice, and other rites.
