Mayor of Amman, Youssef Al-Shawarbeh, inaugurates Wednesday, in Amman National Park, the first mobile clinic to help quit smoking, under the slogan “No to smoking, yes to a healthy life.”

The opening of the mobile clinic coincides with the World No Tobacco Day, while the mobile clinic will provide assistance to quit smoking and provide health advice on proper nutrition, through the Health and Professional Control Department in the Municipality and with the participation of the Parks Department in it.

Every year on May 31, the World Health Organization and its partners celebrate World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and calling for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

Tobacco use is the single most important cause of preventable death globally and currently kills 1 in 10 adults worldwide.

The ultimate goal of World No Tobacco Day is to contribute to protecting current and future generations from these devastating health consequences, and even from the social, environmental and economic calamities of tobacco use and exposure to its smoke.
