The representative of the vehicle sector in the Jordan Free Zones Investors Authority, Jihad Abu Naser, announced the volume of vehicles imported to the local market from the free zone during the first five months of this year.

Abu Nasser revealed, in a press statement, that hybrid cars witnessed a significant growth in the volume of clearance for them by 119.4%, from 3002 cars in 2022 to 6581 cars in 2023.

Electric cars increased by a high of 105.3%, from 5,265 cars in 2022 to 10,803 cars in 2023.

Abu Nasser confirmed that the local market is witnessing significant changes in the quality of required cars, as the latest figures showed a decrease in clearance for gasoline-powered cars by 13%, while clearance for diesel cars decreased by 27.7%.

He added that there was a slight increase in the re-export of cars by 10.9%, stressing that the new law regulating the investment environment contributed to revitalizing the re-export of vehicles due to the tax exemptions it granted to free zones.
