26 years after her departure, the late Princess Diana, Princess of Wales, is still an icon of beauty and elegance, and her news occupies various media sites around the world, including the sale of her diamond and pearl necklace, which she oversaw her own design, at an auction next month. This is according to “townandcountrymag.”

Princess Diana wore the necklace in June 1997 to the opening gala of Swan Lake Ballet at London’s Royal Albert Hall, just months before her untimely death in Paris.

Diana looked glamorous in a sparkling mini dress by Jacques Azaguri and Jimmy Choo shoes for the occasion, but what the princess wore was a custom-made South Sea pearl necklace from Garrard.

The crown jeweler created the necklace and matching set of earrings, which were unfinished at the time, based on designs by Princess Diana herself. After she wore the necklace, it was returned to Garrard so they could finish the earrings but unfortunately, they were not finished before her tragic death.

The necklace is now known as Swan Lake, and the necklace and earrings will be auctioned by Guernsey next month.
