Today, Tuesday morning, the Minister of Public Works and Housing and the Minister of Transport, Eng. Maher Abu Al-Samen, conducted a field tour of the rapid-frequency bus project between the cities of Amman and Zarqa, with its four packages, with the completion rate reaching 80 percent.

Abu Al-Saman stressed the importance of the developmental and economic project because of its positive impact on the improvement and development of the public transport system, which reflects positively on the services provided to citizens.

According to a statement by the ministry, Abu Al-Saman indicated the need to complete the main works in the project, and to provide the ministry periodically with detailed reports on the progress of the work in the project and the obstacles it faces, so that they can be resolved immediately and in a way that contributes to the completion of the works within the specified time period.

The BRT project between the cities of Amman and Zarqa, which is divided into four packages, includes: the construction of two lanes in the middle of the road to serve the rapid bus movement in both directions (Amman – Zarqa), in addition to the expansion and reconstruction works of the road that serves vehicles with three lanes in both directions (at a minimum), Constructing new bridges and tunnels and raising the level of service at intersections.

The project also includes the installation of pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, rainwater and sewage drainage facilities, in addition to lighting, traffic safety and necessary diversions, and dealing with infrastructure obstacles represented by “water lines, communications, electricity cables, and many other necessary works in accordance with the highest international engineering standards.” .
