Hala News – The percentage of fuel consumption in the Kingdom increased by 5.2% in 2022 compared to 2021, according to the latest statistical bulletins issued by the Department of Statistics.

The Department of Statistics indicated in its bulletin that the percentage of generated energy increased by 8.8%. The difference between the percentage of fuel consumed and the percentage of energy generated is due to the increase in the percentage of losses in the electrical energy generated between 2021, when the percentage of losses was 13% in 2021 compared to 13.3% in 2022.

The bulletin mentioned, among the data, “an increase in the percentage of electric energy consumption by 6.6%, and an increase in the per capita share of electric energy by 4.1%, as it increased from 1746 to 1821 kilowatt-hours.”

These figures indicate the return of consumption to numbers close to the numbers of 2019 before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to a decrease in the levels of consumption of fuel and electric energy as a result of the closures that the Kingdom witnessed over the years 2020 and 2021.

With regard to electricity consumption according to the type of subscription, the percentage of consumption in the industrial sector, the commercial sector, and hotels increased, while the percentage of household consumption decreased, which increased compared to other sectors during the pandemic period. In 2022, the domestic sector accounted for 47.9% of the energy consumed, while the industrial sector accounted for 21.2%, and the trade and hotels sector accounted for 14.7% of the total consumption.
