Today, Sunday, the Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Al-Hunaifat, signed agreements with investors to establish 4 food factories, with an investment amounting to two million dinars.

The agreements, which were attended by the Director General of the Industrial Estates Company, Omar Juwaied, include the establishment of a factory for the production of partially processed potatoes, a factory for the production of collected vegetables, and two factories for the production of mushrooms, as part of the project to stimulate agricultural industries in the industrial cities.

Al-Hanifat said that these factories will provide more than 100 job opportunities, and that the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Products Marketing Company will follow up on all contracts concluded and will prepare marketing plans for them to create external marketing opportunities to help their success.

And he indicated that the project to stimulate agricultural industries in the industrial cities is an extension of the national plan for sustainable agriculture, which came in response to royal directives on the importance of food security and the need to develop food industries in partnership with the private sector.

He added that the project aims to link agricultural production with industry to increase the added value of agricultural products, absorb surplus production, increase agricultural exports, improve farmers’ incomes, and provide new job opportunities for the local community.

In turn, Juwayd said that the agricultural industries stimulation project works to attract agricultural investment to the industrial cities and distribute production opportunities to the industrial cities in the governorates, especially since the agreements signed today will be launched in the industrial cities within the governorates of: Irbid, Karak, Tafilah, and the capital.

He stressed that this project is in line with the role of the industrial cities in involving and developing the productive sectors and providing services and infrastructure suitable for their sustainability.
