The Education Committee of the Islamic Action Front party denounced the Ministry of Education’s decision to arbitrarily refer a group of trade union teachers to early retirement against their will, in a procedure the committee described as “punitive and lacking in fairness, transparency and integrity,” on the background of their activity in trade union work, and in the absence of Justifications for this referral.

The committee called on the House of Representatives to convert the civil service system into a law issued by it that addresses the gaps in the current system, which preserves the rights of employees and stops damage to the financial position of social security.

She emphasized that compulsory early retirement is contrary to the law and contrary to the decisions of the Court of Cassation, which emphasized this content, as it is an unjust and arbitrary measure that harms the employee psychologically, financially and economically.

She warned of the impact of these referrals on the educational field, which will lose the best academic and administrative competencies at a time when the ministry needs qualified leading teachers.

The following is the text of the statement:

A statement issued by the Education Committee of the Islamic Action Front party regarding the referral of a group of teachers to early retirement

The Education Committee of the Islamic Action Front party deplores what the Ministry of Education did to arbitrarily refer a group of trade union teachers to early retirement without their desire, in a punitive measure that lacks fairness, transparency and integrity, on the background of their activity in trade union work, and in the absence of justifications that necessitate This referral.

In view of the continuation of the approach of forced referral to early retirement, the Education Committee renews its rejection of this approach, and the fight against teachers for their livelihood, and calls on the Ministry of Education to retract this unfair decision, and we also affirm the following:

First: We demand that the Jordanian Parliament need to transform the civil service system into a law issued by it that addresses the gaps in the current system, which preserves the rights of employees and stops damage to the financial position of social security.

Second: Compulsory early retirement is contrary to the law and contrary to the decisions of the Court of Cassation, which emphasized this content.

Third: Compulsory and compulsory early retirement is an unjust and arbitrary procedure that harms the employee psychologically, financially and economically.

Fourth: The use of compulsory early retirement as a punishment for teachers and employees because of their trade union and educational activity and because of expressing opinion is a matter that makes job security questionable, and is considered a struggle in livelihoods and sources of income for them and their families in light of economic crises that everyone suffers from.

Fifth: Referrals make the educational field lose the best academic and administrative competencies, and this is evidenced by their career history and academic record, at a time when we are in dire need of leading teachers with experience and competence.
