The Jordanian Ophthalmologists Association held its first conference locally, which is concerned with cornea and refractive surgery.

The head of the Jordanian Ophthalmologists Association, Thabet Al-Awdat, said that the conference is the first of its kind in Jordan, which is specialized in cornea and refractive surgery, and included 8 scientific sessions and a workshop on keratoconus fixation, and 3 specialized workshops in cataract operations to train doctors.

Al-Awdat added that the conference witnessed the attendance of more than 350 doctors from Jordan and outside Jordan, and a group of distinguished lecturers from Europe and Arab countries.

He explained that the conference included, during the event, 19 corneal fixation operations for needy patients within a week, which were carried out by the Swiss delegation, and the first corneal fixation operation in Jordan with the high fluence epi-on technique, and this operation was performed on a Slitlamp.

Al-Awdat indicated that the work was distributed to all medical sectors from the private sector, Prince Hamzah Hospital, and Al-Hussein Medical City.

And he indicated that a workshop was held to train doctors on corneal stabilization operations on the sidelines of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Conference, indicating that the conference is rich in its content and organization.
