The spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Muhannad Al-Khatib, confirmed his intention to offer about 25 new university majors after the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

Al-Khatib told Ammon, on Wednesday, that the council agreed based on the placement of universities with majors for the bachelor’s and master’s levels, while the council refused to create majors in universities because they are stagnant or saturated, or that the university did not meet the conditions for creating a specialization in it.

He mentioned that among the disciplines that have been accepted for their creation are supply chain management, port management and maritime logistics, financial technology, e-business and e-commerce, hybrid vehicle service, hydromechanical systems for heavy machinery, and smart robotics systems engineering.

According to his speech, it is necessary to aspire to include digital and personal skills in study plans to enable students to join the labor market, which is witnessing progress and the use of modern technological skills.

The introduction of these specializations, according to Al-Khatib, comes within the Ministry’s plan to keep pace with the requirements of the local and regional labor market.
