The former media spokesperson for the Teachers Syndicate, Ayman al-Akour, criticized the continuation of the policy of what he described as “punishing” the syndicate teachers, and referring them to early retirement and placement.

Al-Akour revealed in a statement to Al-Bawsala that a new list had been issued to refer 30 teachers to early retirement, including trade union activists, without an official justification from officials in the Ministry of Education.

He added that the Ministry of Education suddenly issued a list according to which it referred a number of teachers to early retirement without their request, and without indicating their failure to perform their educational duties.

He pointed out that among those referred to retirement are activists in the union, Saeed Amin al-Muqabla, Khaled Abu Dawla, Sufyan al-Habashneh, Muhammad al-Shara’a, and Muhammad al-Adaileh.

He called on the Ministry of Education to immediately retract these decisions, which reflect a settling of scores with teachers who were active in the issues of the teachers’ union.
