The National Epidemiological Control stresses the importance of vaccinations to prevent diseases

The National Center for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases said that it is working with the Ministry of Health and partners to support the national vaccination program in the Kingdom.

In a statement today on the occasion of the “World Immunization Week 2023”, which comes this year under the title “The Broad Retreat Campaign”, the center recommended preserving and supporting the national vaccination program, stressing the importance of increasing coverage of vulnerable groups in remote areas with vaccinations, modernizing the cold chain system and introducing new vaccines in Routine national immunization program based on the latest data analysis on vaccine-preventable diseases.

He pointed out that Jordan has succeeded in maintaining high vaccination coverage and protecting its population, and the national vaccination program has achieved great success despite the spread of polio and other infectious diseases in neighboring countries.

He explained that the center is working on “following up and improving vaccination levels in the Kingdom and expanding the base of people covered by it.” And due to the importance of following up on the development and updating of statistical data on the percentage of coverage of routine vaccinations for children, the center is working, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, to conduct a national cluster survey to study the percentage of vaccination coverage for the age group 2- 3 years and factors that may cause coverage rates to drop below the nationally targeted rates.

He stressed the importance of conducting comprehensive research on the side effects following vaccination for all vaccine-preventable diseases in Jordan and for all ages, in addition to supporting the monitoring of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Through the National Committee for Communication on Health Risks and Community Engagement, the center supports the involvement of local communities in accessing vaccination services provided by the Ministry of Health and is spread throughout the Kingdom for free, and educating beneficiaries on the importance of vaccination and adherence to national vaccination programs.

World Immunization Week, celebrated annually in the last week of April, aims to highlight the importance of collective action to protect children and adults from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Under the slogan of the “broad remedial campaign”, the Ministry of Health and the Center are working with the support of the World Health Organization to rectify any vaccines that children could not be vaccinated with during the Corona pandemic, restore coverage rates, and strengthen primary health care to provide immunization.
