The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the completion of the right lane heading from Amman to Aqaba (the descent of the Negev) as part of a project to rehabilitate the remaining most affected parts of the desert road for the area from Ras al-Naqab to Humaymah.

The ministry said in a press statement today, Thursday, that, starting next Sunday morning, traffic diversions will be made in coordination with the Public Security Directorate, at the work site for the purpose of completing the left lane work, as the direction of traffic coming from Aqaba towards Amman will be diverted to the right lane from Dibbat Hanout area. To Al Hamima to the right of the newly executed road, as shown in the attached plan.

And she confirmed that the traffic diversions are equipped with all public safety elements, calling on the citizens on the road to adhere to the principles of safe driving and the instructions of its cadres working in the field and the instructions of the partners in managing external patrols.

It is noteworthy that the work in the project was divided into two parts to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the road and to facilitate the road users and complete the works as quickly as possible, while the completion rate in the first part was about 50 percent and the second part about 65 percent.

The works include removing the existing asphalt layers and paving layers, up to the foundation layers, and implementing the foundation and paving layers, including the two layers of mattresses and three layers of asphalt mixture.
