Al-Hawari confirms Jordan’s commitment to global efforts to catch up on what was missed in the field of vaccination

The Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Hawari, said that Jordan, in order to preserve its previous achievements, affirms its commitment to global efforts to catch up and compensate for the missed progress in the field of vaccination by restoring coverage rates, reaching children who missed vaccination, and strengthening primary health care to ensure the continuity of services of the national vaccination program and provide Long-term protection for our communities.

This came in a statement issued by the WHO country office in Jordan on the occasion of World Vaccination Week 2023, today.

The World Vaccination Week, which is celebrated from April 24 to 30 each year, and this year comes under the slogan “The Broad Catch-up Campaign”, aims to highlight the collective efforts needed to protect members of societies from vaccine-preventable diseases.

The organization said it is working with partners to accelerate countries’ return to the right track to ensure that more people, especially children, are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.

On this occasion, the representative of the World Health Organization in Jordan, Dr. Jamila Al-Raabi, said: “As the World Health Organization celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding, we recall the public health successes that have improved the quality of life during the past seven decades, most notably the achievements of the Expanded Program for Vaccination, which saved millions of lives. worldwide and continues to do so to this day.

In Jordan, the Ministry of Health has led national efforts and succeeded in keeping the country free from polio since 1992, free from neonatal tetanus since 2006, effectively reducing the burden of measles and introducing several new vaccines into the national immunization program so that children can and adults and their communities to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases so that they can live happier and healthier lives, according to the statement.

In its statement, the organization confirmed that vaccines provide the opportunity and hope for all of us to enjoy a more prosperous life, and this is something worth all of us striving for. Vaccines are effective.
