Today, Saturday, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority organized a campaign to clean the southern beach in the Gulf of Aqaba, in which more than 15 divers participated.

Hamza Haj Hassan, the head of the Aqaba Diving Association, Khammash Yassin, the navy, royal boats and a group of diving centers in Aqaba participated in a campaign to clean the seabed.

Al-Fayez pointed out that the campaign comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to protect the marine environment through the Directorate of the Aqaba Marine Protected Area, in cooperation with partners, to clean the seabed and surface of all kinds of waste and reduce its negative effects within a periodic program that was prepared to continue throughout the year.

He pointed out that the campaign focuses on cleaning the diving sites most visited by divers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which witnessed the arrival of thousands of visitors and tourists to Aqaba on the first and second days of the holiday.

He said that there is an awareness campaign for citizens about the necessity of preserving the marine environment and not throwing solid and plastic waste on the seashore or on the seabed, which causes pollution of the water environment.

Al-Fayez stressed the imposition of deterrent penalties against perpetrators of environmental violations according to the Environmental Protection Law, calling on citizens to cooperate with the concerned authorities to preserve the cleanliness of the marine environment and enjoy the atmosphere of Aqaba so that the awareness of vacationers will be reflected in a beautiful and uplifting impact on the smiling mouth of Jordan.
