The Grand Criminal Court indicted a 30-year-old man with the felony of attempted premeditated murder, after he shot a man and wounded him in the thigh, as he had fled from him in fear after witnessing the accused chasing a man carrying a sword, in a suburb of the capital, Amman.

The court sentenced the accused to temporary labor for 12 years, according to Articles 326 and 70 of the Penal Code.

According to the court’s decision, during the victim’s walk on the main street heading to his place of work, he saw the accused fire a “pistol” at an unknown person who was in possession of a sword.

The decision added that because of the victim’s fear of being injured, he moved away from the place and entered the “yard” of one of the houses, while the accused followed him.

The decision indicated that the victim told the accused that he did not know the person who was chasing him, who was carrying a sword.

And he indicated that the accused fired several bullets, aiming at the victim intending to kill him, and hit him in the lower thigh, which led to a crumbly fracture in the “soap” and cut off part of the tendons of the right muscle, while it was found that there was a bullet entrance and an exit below the right leg.

The victim underwent an emergency surgery to fix the fracture, and his injury did not pose a threat to his life, according to the court’s decision.
