The secretary of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, Basma Diab, said that the Eid crescent is generated astronomically on Thursday evening, but it is not possible to see it with the naked eye and it is also difficult to see it through a telescope. Theyab also indicated that the claim of seeing the crescent on Thursday evening would be a scientifically incorrect claim.
She explained that the crescent of Shawwal needs at least 12 hours, after the conjugation is achieved, in order to be able to monitor it through the telescope, and about 15 hours to be able to see it with the naked eye, but she confirmed that it is possible to monitor the crescent through special cameras that show the beginning of the new lunar cycle, but that will not It takes place before sunset on Thursday, and accordingly the matter remains for the Fatwa Department and the Fiqh Councils about accepting the investigation before sunset, because it is considered not approved until now.
Theyab indicated that, according to astronomical calculations, Friday is the first day of the new lunar cycle, and that the Arab and Islamic countries that adopt the astronomical calculation have decided that Friday is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
