The Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Dr. Muhammad Al-Khalayleh, said that zakat was associated with prayer in several places in the Holy Qur’an. This came during the inauguration, today, Tuesday, of the charity forum and the free medical day organized by the Zakat Fund in cooperation with endowment funds and the Makassed Charitable Hospital, in the southern shrine district of Karak Governorate.

Al-Khalayleh added that the Zakat Fund provides monthly salaries to about 5,500 families, and orphan sponsorships for 3,000 orphans, in addition to distributing emergency aid and productive rehabilitation projects to needy and most vulnerable families, to get these families out of the circle of destitution to production and self-reliance, stressing that the royal directives constitute Motivating field work and touching the needs of citizens wherever they are.

Al-Khalayleh announced that the ministry, in cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, will soon rehabilitate the historic site of Al-Mashhad (the scene of the Battle of Mu’tah), in a manner befitting the place and its religious and historical importance, indicating the religious value of the site, which was stained with the blood of the Companions and martyrs, and was a witness to the immortal Islamic heroism.

The charity forum included the distribution of 500 vouchers and cash assistance to 50 orphans and 50 students of knowledge, at a rate of 100 dinars each, in addition to 500 food parcels provided by the philanthropist Muhammad Ghazi Abu Soufa.

Al Khalayleh also inaugurated the free medical day organized by Al Makassed Charitable Hospital, during which health care was provided in several specialties to the people of the district.
