On Sunday, the general manager of Crave Jordan, Ahmed Al-Amoudi, said that the credit information report will be available on the government’s “Sanad” application soon.
He added, in his interview with the “Kingdom” channel, that the database of Crave Company was set in a legal manner.
The credit report is a report that contains detailed information on the transactions of companies obtaining credit facilities from credit providers in various sectors. Data is obtained and updated by credit providers in a periodic and automated manner that reflects the credit status of the company as of the date of the update.
Speaking about the company, he said that it has 20 shareholders, including 19 shareholders representing several banks, in addition to a strategic partner, the global company Crave, which is located in more than 54 countries and specializes in dealing with data.
Al-Amoudi added that the process of collecting information takes place after subscribing to the service, i.e. qualifying the institution to be a data provider.
Regarding the sharing of customer information, Al-Amoudi pointed out that Article 74 of the Banking Law allowed the sharing of customer information, noting that it is stored on devices located inside Jordan.
Al-Amoudi indicated that the approved credit report of the individual can be printed through the application of 5 operating banks.
He explained that the Craif report returns information to the previous 7 years in the event of bankruptcy and insolvency.
Al-Amoudi indicated that the CRIF report includes service data and non-bank financial institutions, explaining that the error in data processing is the responsibility of CRIF.
The work of the Jordan Crave Company is limited to providing credit reports to the credit service providers participating in the service, and it has no role in decision-making. Rather, the credit decision belongs to banks and financial institutions according to the policies and controls applicable to each facility separately internally.
Crave Jordan was established as a private shareholding company aiming to provide credit information services in Jordan and obtained a license to practice its activities from the Central Bank of Jordan in 2015 and officially started its work in 2016, through an electronic platform that was designed and built in cooperation with the strategic partner Crave SPA, a company A global company with advanced technological expertise and techniques in this field.
The activity of CRIF Jordan is subject to the Credit Information Law No. 15 of 2010 and the Credit Information Companies Regulation No. 36 of 2011. In addition, the Central Bank of Jordan supervises and controls the company’s activities and operations through a specialized department.
CRIF Jordan currently provides its services to credit providers operating in Jordan and in accordance with the provisions of the law contained in the definition of the credit provider.
Crave Jordan obtains credit data from sources mentioned within the paragraphs of the Credit Information Law, including banks, financial leasing companies, financial institutions established by private law, microfinance companies, and others.
A lawyer specializing in the banking sector, Moatasem Naseer, said that the Credit Information Law has been in the House of Representatives for 5 years.
And Naseer indicated that customer information should not be disclosed to any party in accordance with the Banking Law.
He pointed out that the credit information law alone is not sufficient to disclose customer information.
He explained that the credit report issued by Crave is not binding on banks.
