The Zarqa Governorate Health Directorate staff, during their monitoring tours last week, closed two water desalination plants, and warned 58 other plants and 4 private water wells.

Zarqa Health Director Dr. Khaled Abdel-Fattah told (Petra) that the closure of the two stations and the warnings were due to a violation of health requirements and standards, noting that the staff of the Department of Environmental Health and Food in the directorate intensified last week the control over shops selling juices and sweets, and collected 40 samples of the water used in their preparation. It was in compliance with health standards.

He added that the department’s cadres inspected ten factories, so they violated one factory and warned 5 others for violating occupational health standards and procedures. They also warned 4 beauty salons and shops selling cosmetics for not adhering to the necessary health standards.

He stressed that the Health Directorate has intensified since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan its monitoring and inspection tours of the facilities to ensure the extent of their compliance with health standards and requirements.
