The Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee warned the Israeli occupation state, on Friday, against imposing restrictions that limit the access of Christians to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in occupied Jerusalem, and to reduce the number of those celebrating the Holy Saturday ceremonies.

The committee said, in a statement, that Israel’s measures against Christians, and the restrictions they are subjected to, are “rejected and condemned,” especially as they are on the verge of Easter, next Sunday.

Committee Chairman Representative Khaldoun Hayna stressed the need for Israel to refrain from any measures that would prejudice the freedom of worship in the holy places in occupied Jerusalem.

At the same time, the committee warned of “the continuation of violations committed by settlers and the occupation army against Palestinians in general and Jerusalemites in particular.”

At the same time, he called on the Israeli occupation authorities to respect the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities, and to stop all restrictive measures against the Muslims and Christians of occupied Jerusalem.

He stressed for a while that Jordan, based on the historical Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, will continue to take all possible steps to protect the sanctities and preserve the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem to be a key to peace and a symbol of tolerance and harmony.
