Yesterday, Friday, the Ministry of Social Development arrested 115 beggars, as part of a campaign it organized in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate and the Greater Amman Municipality in all governorates of the Kingdom, to control beggars, and educate citizens about the phenomenon of begging according to a plan to reduce this phenomenon in the holy month of Ramadan.

The campaign included raising awareness of the negative effects of begging under the title “Together Against Begging”, distributing educational brochures and posters about the dangers of begging and its impact on society. These were distributed at the doors of mosques and markets where beggars abound, especially in this holy month.

All beggars who were caught were referred to the competent authorities to take legal action.

The Ministry of Social Development called for raising awareness among citizens to take responsibility for reducing the effects of the phenomenon on society by not sympathizing with beggars.
